Airports near Trento
There are no international airports in Trento itself. The closest airports are shown in the map below:

The nearest airport is Verona’s Catullo airport (1 hour away by train).
It offers connections to the major European destinations, including the international hubs of Frankfurt, Paris, London Gatwick, and Rome, and some low-cost flights (RyanAir from Frankfurt and Bremen; Transavia from Amsterdam; Germanwings from Berlin, Bonn and London Stansted).
A smaller airport in Verona (Gabriele D’Annunzio) offers RyanAir connections to London Stansted and Barcelona.
Other Airports
Note: Especially those making long-distance flights should also consider the airports in Milan: By train, they are about 2–3 hours farther away than Verona and cost about 40 Euros more (round trip); but the plane fares can be hundreds of Euros lower.
To give an idea of current fares to Milan: In March 2009, flights from New York to Milan can be booked on several carriers for a total cost of well under $1000. while flights from San Francisco to Milan start at about $1100.

If you come from the north, Trento is 50 km south of Bolzano.
If you come from the south, Trento is 90 km north of Verona.
